Rajkot Tanvi Gold Robbery and Murder Case: What Happened?
According to media reports, the incident took place on the evening of 14 October 2026 in the Aji GIDC industrial area of Rajkot, Gujarat, outside the refinery unit of Tanvi Export India Ltd., associated with Tanvi Gold Enterprise.
Laljibhai Sardhara, a company employee, was transporting refined gold and silver from the refinery to the company's jewellery manufacturing unit located nearby. He was accompanied by a security guard when four alleged attackers intercepted him and attempted to take the valuables.
According to the police investigation reported by the media, the attackers shot Sardhara during the robbery and fled with the consignment. He was taken to a hospital but died during treatment.
The stolen consignment was reported to contain approximately 946 grams of gold bars valued at ₹1,48,90,000 and two kilograms of refined silver dust powder valued at ₹4,30,000. The total reported value of the stolen valuables was ₹1,53,20,000, or approximately ₹1.53 crore.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The Rajkot City Crime Branch, with assistance from Rajasthan Police, investigated the case and made arrests across Gujarat and Rajasthan.
On 15 October, initial reports stated that nine people had been arrested and the stolen valuables recovered. On 16 October, The Times of India reported that the number of arrested suspects had increased to ten.
Police also reported an alleged insider connection involving a serving employee and a former worker of the company. Their alleged roles, along with those of the other accused, remain matters for investigation and the legal process.
On 17 October, further reporting by The Times of India stated that one of the accused had been injured in police firing during an operation linked to the recovery of a weapon. The report also stated that the accused had been remanded to police custody for four days.
These developments have made the case a major news story in Rajkot, raising serious concerns about employee safety and the security of high-value gold and silver consignments.

“I worked with Tanvi Exports India in 2024 as a Branding and Media Manager. My association with the company was never limited to my job or professional responsibilities. The founder, directors, and team members treated me like a member of their family. I was part of their personal celebrations, birthdays, and other events, and those experiences created a connection that I continue to value.
Although I am no longer working with the company, the opportunity they gave me and the relationships I built there will always remain important to me.
When I heard about the incident in Rajkot and learned that Laljibhai Sardhara had lost his life while performing his duty, it was genuinely heartbreaking. I have personally been associated with this organisation, and I understand that behind a company are people who work together and become part of one another's lives.
No amount of gold or silver can be more valuable than a human life. My heartfelt condolences are with Laljibhai's family. I hope they receive the strength and support they need during this difficult time.
I also appreciate the efforts of the Rajkot Crime Branch and Rajasthan Police in investigating the case, making arrests, and recovering the stolen valuables. I hope the investigation reaches its proper conclusion and that justice is served.
To the founder, directors, and the entire Tanvi Exports India team, I want to express my support and concern. Even though I am no longer working with the company, I remain grateful for the opportunity and the way I was treated during my time there. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.”
