There is a unique feeling that every aspiring filmmaker experiences during post-production. As I sat at the editing table, reviewing the footage frame by frame, I kept spotting myself in the background—holding the clapboard, assisting the director, coordinating the set, and preparing every shot before the camera rolled.
To many people, those moments might seem ordinary. But to me, they were a reminder that I had earned my place on set through hard work. Every slate I held, every cue I gave, and every responsibility I took became part of my learning process.
Film school was never just about attending lectures or earning a degree. It was about showing up before call time, staying until the last shot, learning from every department, and understanding how a film is built piece by piece. I believed that the developing stage of any filmmaker is the most important phase of their career. It is where you must combine hard work with smart work, absorb as much knowledge as possible, and strengthen every skill that will shape your future.
Looking back at those frames today, I don't just see myself holding a clapboard—I see the foundation of my journey as a director. Those university years were where I challenged myself, polished my craft, and built the mindset that continues to guide me as a filmmaker.
